What is your personal vision for the craft malt community?
To educate and revitalize the brewery-maltster relationship across our industry.
Why are you interested in serving on the Guild’s Board of Directors (BOD)?
I have been a proponent of the craft malt movement since meeting Brent and Brian at Riverbend Malt House several years ago. Craft ingredients are paramount to the craft beer and distilling movements. I am passionate about organizing, encouraging, and spreading the idea of utilizing hand-crafted ingredients in our fellow industries.
What skills, resources, and connections do you feel you will be able to contribute to the Guild’s Board?
I am the co-founder of Perfect Plain Brewing Co. and current board member of the Florida Brewers Guild. I would happily serve as a liaison to Florida’s craft brewing scene for the Craft Maltsters Guild.
What other long-term volunteer opportunities have you been involved in, including service on other Boards? Please list and describe:
I currently serve on the Florida Brewers Guild board and have for the past two years.
What do you hope to get out of service on the Guild’s BOD?
I am here to promote our allied industries. I’m passionate about what we do as a craft industry. If I can help promote and increase the adoption of craft malt in our allied industries in beer and spirits then I consider that win.
What is one thing that your fellow Guild members should know about you?
I’m an avid promoter of craft malt. Since meeting Brent, Brain, and Matt at Riverbend I’ve been passionate about incorporating craft ingredients into my business. Better ingredients make a better product, that’s a fact.
