Malters Advantage was born in late 2014, early 2015. Wayne Moore visited Grouse Malt House to review the malt supply chain for Ghostfish Brewing Company, a gluten-free brewery in Seattle. Out of that visit and subsequent discussions grew the realization there was opportunity and a need for good quality affordable craft malting equipment and support for the craft malting community.
Malters Advantage’s first project was the design and fabrication of the Saladin Malting System for Great Lakes Malting in 2016. It was the fabrication of the Great Lakes system that brought Bauer Sheet Metal and Fabricating into the mix. Bauer fabricated and installed the system. Shortly after that project, Malters Advantage and Bauer formally established their working relationship. Since that first project, we’ve continued to add to our portfolio of equipment, projects, and services.
In 2017, Oasis Consulting began providing control system design and engineering for Malters Advantage and now the circle is complete! Wayne, Moore and More LLC, is responsible for all the engineering design, systems designs, and malthouse support functions. Ron, Bauer Sheet Metal and Fabricating, provides the fabrication and installation of the systems, and Chad Lehmann, Oasis Consulting, provides the control system design, engineering, and support.
And yes, Ghostfish Brewing Company is still buying gluten-free malt from Grouse Malting – which is now produced on a three-drum malting system from Malters Advantage. The Circle is complete!
