A Fall Update
Autumn is always a busy time across our membership. Harvest and/or planting for many of our farmers, Craft Malt Month, and Oktoberfest celebrations. In this season, the Board has taken some time to reflect on the work of our organization and revisit our short and long term goals. This year, a strategic planning retreat was led by Board VP Brian Estes. Board members and our ED Steve Kurowski met in the beginning of October to step outside of the regular operations of the Guild and think more deeply about the ways that our Guild can work to promote and sustain the tradition of craft malting.
We all left this time feeling energized and focused about the work ahead of us. As always, the Education, Conference, Marketing, and Membership Committees are open to participation from the whole membership; and we hope that you will engage with us here.
Additionally, please keep an eye out for information regarding our upcoming annual Member Malthouse Meeting and Board of Directors Election. We’ll open the floor to nominations in the coming weeks. Feel free to reach out with any questions.
Join Us At MaltCon2025!
In case you missed the announcement earlier in October, registration is now open for MaltCon 2025. We are headed to Denver! Denver’s central location and vibrant craft community made it an attractive choice to host the next conference. Session planning is underway and the session proposal submission window is open until Wednesday November 27.
We hope that you will join us! Each year, the Craft Malt Conference is a wonderful opportunity for our community to engage with each other and spend a few days focused on the pursuit of malt quality, industry camaraderie, and knowledge exchange. Early bird registration is open now (https://craftmalting.com/2025-craft-malt-con/).
The Advanced Class in Craft Malt Production will also be offered in Denver in the days before the conference. This course, taught by Hannah Uhlmann and Bruce French, is an exploration of malting technology aimed at giving both startup and experienced maltsters the tools they need. Registration information can be found at https://craftmalting.com/classes-workshops/.
Thanks for reading. Enjoy the rest of the fall season!
