MEMBER WEBINAR:
ENEMIES OF MALT BARLEY AND OTHER SMALL GRAINS
THURSDAY, MAY 13TH | 3:00 PM – 4:00 PM EST
SPEAKER
Dr. Juliet Marshall, University of Idaho – Department of Entomology, Plant Pathology, and Nematology
Webinar Description: The best and the worst situations for growing barley depend on all of the typically associated production factors – the geographic region, the crops grown in rotation, the agronomic practices on-farm, and the varieties. Growers face an array of problems seen and unseen in the effort to produce a reliable and safe raw product for malting and eventually for brewing. Plant scientists and disease specialists assist our producers in all aspects from the pre-planting practices through harvest and storage, always trying to wrestle one more grain in the farmer’s bin from the multitude of potential losses – and it always comes down to economics.
