In September, Tropical Storm Helene devastated Western North Carolina. Its flood path was catastrophic, and it impacted many of our malthouse members and Craft Malt Certified™ producers. Many were left without power and water, many experienced flooding and damage to their facilities. The photo here is at Riverbend Malt House, filling orders in the dark.
Now two months after this unprecedented disaster, WNC communities have only begun the long road to recovery. We hope that our membership will support any and all of these ongoing relief efforts.
Pouring For Neighbors
As an immediate response to the storm, the North Carolina Craft Brewers Guild enacted Pouring For Neighbors. More than 300 breweries nationwide have signed up for this initiative. Hoptown Handles is offering free tap handles to all participating breweries and retail locations. Learn more about Pouring For Neighbors and sign up at drinkncbeer.org/pouring-for-neighbors.
Higher Calling IPA
One of our Asheville-based Craft Malt Certified™ breweries, DSSOLVR, has developed the Higher Calling Hazy IPA to raise funds to support the rebuilding of North Carolina brewing community. They worked with the North Carolina Craft Brewers Guild to ensure the funds go where they are needed most, with the first round of grants going to the rebuilding of WNC. All funds are donated to their 501c3, The NC Craft Brewers Foundation.
DSSOLVR provides a label, a recipe base, and a list of suppliers (including Riverbend Malt House who was also impacted by the storm) offering discounted rates. They ask in return that 100% of the net profits be donated to The NC Craft Brewers Foundation, that you share your involvement on social media, and share a unique and positive memory of yours about our beloved WNC. Send an email to [email protected] to get started.
RadCraft Merch
December 2024 proceeds for all of RadCraft’s web shop merchandise items, including the very last of our Craft Malt Month t-shirts, will be donated to The NC Craft Brewers Foundation.
