As the year begins to wrap up, and we celebrate all that we have and look forward to the new year, I’m excited about the opportunities ahead for the Guild and the craft malt industry at large.

Built for Craft

Craft malt is built from the ground up for craft brewers and distillers. It’s one of the Top 10 Reasons #CraftMaltMatters.  Craft malt redefines what’s possible when the malt supply chain is built from the ground up with a sole focus on craft brewers, distillers, and artisan producers. Collaborative partnerships are formed that result in award-winning, high-quality products which the consumer enjoys.  In the coming year, we’ll encourage consumers to explore more the role craft malt plays in their favorite beverage.

You can support those efforts by telling us why you choose to invest in craft malt. Please tag us, #whycraftmalt, and #craftmaltmatters.

Strength of Community

Without a doubt, the strength of the Craft Maltsters Guild is its members and the community which supports this vibrant industry. Craft malt represents an unprecedented mix of people, from a wide variety of backgrounds, and we strive to learn and grow together. We will continue to offer outstanding educational programming to help new and seasoned maltsters alike hone their craft.  Innovation and creativity is happening among our member malthouses across the U.S. and around the world, and the Craft Maltsters Guild is proud to be growing as the global hub for malt educational events and other resources, including MaltCon, the Advanced Class in Craft Malt Production, the annual Malt Cup, and content-packed newsletters and webinars.  This programming is intended to join forces with a wealth of regionally focused educational opportunities brought to you directly by our membership. I hope everyone takes advantage of these opportunities.

Cheers & Gratitude

I want to give a particular shout out to our Allied Partners, many of whom provide invaluable resources to Guild Members from testing and analysis to research and development. You are truly a partner that helps the craft malt industry thrive. And to our distillery and brewery members. Your commitment to sourcing locally grown malt produced from independent craft malthouses helps drive our industry forward. We couldn’t be as successful as we are without your involvement, thank you.

Finally, I’m grateful to each of you for the warm welcome you’ve extended to me.  I look forward to seeing many of you in Davis, California for #MaltCon2024!

Cheers,

Alice Blayne-Allard, Executive Director
