Happy December! Since our last update, we have celebrated Craft Malt Week, welcomed a new Executive Director, announced a packed conference schedule for February’s MaltCon, and our Nominations Committee introduced a fantastic slate of candidates for seats on the Board.

Craft Malt Week 2023 was a clear success, with the greatest engagement from our community to-date! Malthouses, distillers, and brewers from across the globe shared their thoughts on why craft malt matters to them. This annual opportunity to amplify our voices in support of our craft has grown each year, and we are so thankful for your participation.

If Craft Malt Week left you wanting more malt, I hope that you will consider joining one of our committees in 2024. Led by Board members and the ED, committees are the place to suggest new ideas, shape Guild initiatives, and help to grow our organization. With groups focused on Member Services, Education, the Conference, Advocacy, and Governance, there are plenty of opportunities to join.

A hearty thank you goes out to our departing Board Members – Jeff Malkiewicz of Great Lakes Malting, Branch Rothschild of Allagash Brewing, and Hannah Turner of Montana State University. Each has brought great perspective and ideas to the Board and the Guild as a whole.  Cheers to them!

I hope that you can find time to join us for our Guild Annual Social & Meeting, December 14 at 3pm EST.  We will announce the newly elected Board members, recap the last fiscal year, and share some general conviviality in the midst of this holiday season.

With warm wishes for a healthy and happy conclusion to the year,

Hillary Barile, Board President
